Situated on Austin Avenue in Lilliput, this pre-war bungalow retained much of its traditional English character, but the owners wanted to make better use of its two-bedroom layout. Their brief was to create a third bedroom and an open-plan kitchen and living area without extending the original footprint. Carrara Sandbanks reconfigured the accommodation, converting the former dining room into an additional bedroom and undertaking structural alterations to open up the kitchen and living spaces. The new arrangement provided a more sociable living area while preserving the bungalow's original proportions. The refurbishment also brought a fresh, contemporary finish to the interiors. Outside, a New England-inspired transformation gave the property a different character, complemented by an expansive decked terrace for outdoor living. The project demonstrates how a substantial improvement to a property's layout and accommodation can be achieved without the need for an extension.
