The owners were looking for a coastal second home that could eventually become their permanent residence in retirement. South Lodge, an apartment in Martello Park, appealed to them for its generous proportions, natural light and views across mature landscaped grounds towards the sea. Although the property had much to offer, the arrangement of the kitchen and dining accommodation did not suit their plans. They wanted to replace two separate rooms with a spacious, open-plan area that would provide a more natural connection between cooking, dining and everyday living. Carrara Sandbanks was commissioned to redesign and reconfigure the apartment, creating the new kitchen and dining space and updating the interiors throughout. The refurbishment included bespoke fixtures and fittings, alongside contemporary finishes chosen to complement the property's light and generous rooms. The completed apartment provides the open, comfortable living accommodation the owners had envisaged, suited to their time on the coast now and the possibility of making South Lodge their permanent home in the future.
